The rise of the cycle safari

Just 100ft from the glinting spokes of our bikes, this extended family of pachyderms was effortlessly stripping the branches of shoulder-high mopane trees as it wandered westwards towards the fierce, late afternoon sun. “An adult can eat around 250 kilos of food a day,” whispered Mosa. “They’ve probably seen us, but it’s best to give them their space, just in case.”
